Simon Goldwater
Borough Councillor for Peartree
Thank you for giving me this opportunity to serve you as your councillor. I would like to convey my gratitude to each one of you who voted for me, allowing me this opportunity to be your councillor.
I hope that together with my fellow Liberal Democrat councillors, Russ Platt and Duncan Jones, we will continue to make a positive difference for you, the residents of Peartree.
One of my election priorities, and one that is already being championed by my fellow councillors, is to address the deluge of planning applications in our area, and to prevent Peartree from being turned into a soulless jungle of concrete. It is important to protect the town and the legacy of Ebenezer Howard. This is not to say that I’m against progress, but I feel that any developments need to keep the core values of the Garden City alive, that of community, green open space and good facilities.
Another priority is to tackle the issues with antisocial behaviour, by working with the police and pushing for additional funding for youth and community services. There are a large number of other issues to address such as housing maintenance, refuse and fly-tipping and parking in many areas of peartree.
Whether you voted for me or another candidate, I look forward to meeting and hearing from you over the coming years and serving you as your Peartree councillor.
