Malcolm says: "Just a lick of paint, Sainsburys,"11.10.00pm GMT Tue 11th Nov 2008
Malcolm Cowan, LibDem county and borough councillor, is asking for the area in front of Sainsbury's in WGC to be brightened up. 'There are large areas of boarded up windows and doors, which give a really run-down look to this part of the town. Any Sainsbury's redevelopment is still months away. I would like to see these expanses of plywood painted, perhaps by local young people. I will be writing to Sainsbury's to ask them to give the go-ahead.'
Nearby there is also a very tatty tree stump, which has been there for years. Malcolm added 'I really want to see this stump removed, and have asked the council to get on with it. This is a trivial amount of money to spend. Everyone agrees this part of the town centre is not the best, but no-one seems to be doing anything about it.' For further information, contact Malcolm Cowan on 324723.
