A sad community gathers to mourn this post office closure.
Marsden Road Post Office finally closed on 18th November, after over 20 years of trading.
Said Tony Skottowe: 'This is a sad day for Handside. After many months of campaigning, we have now had to admit defeat.'
A large group gathered outside the post office at 4 pm, on 18th November, to mark the last day of trading. Richard Edlin and Mrs Orme, the proprietors, were devastated. The stores will still stock stamps and they will accept parcels for posting. Lib Dem councillor Louise Lotz, and party chair Nigel Quinton were among the protesters. There was a group of elderly and disabled people who came to show that the post office closure has affected the more vulnerable members of the community.
