Save New Briars School, says Hazel Laming

Councillor Hazel Laming

The Tory county council are threatening to close New Briars Primary School, another kick in the teeth for Hatfield parents. A school rated in the top 5% in the country, which has done tremendously well to maintain itself through the trauma of the chalk mine saga, may never return to its original site - despite the £4.2 million pounds being spent filling in the chalk mines close to the school.

Hazel Laming, councillor for Hatfield Central ward for both Town and Borough councils, is adamant that this decision should be challenged. "There is little or no justification to reduce places in the centre of Hatfield to the extent proposed by the county education department, and absolutely no case for sacrificing one of the best schools in the country, never mind the town."

We have set up a special website where you can sign our petition - please do so, and make the Tories at county think again.
