Oldings Roundabout

Oldings Roundabout - dangerous and confusing

Oldings Roundabout - thanks to Libdems, changes at last to this dangerous and confusing roundabout.

After years of chaos through not knowing which lane to be in, changes are due at this complex roundabout.

Your county councillor Malcolm Cowan (Handside & Peartree) demanded a meeting with county highways staff to thrash out a better way forward. 'At the moment, even if you get in lane, you soon find you are in the wrong place, or other traffic is, and there is a lot of cutting up as vehicles try to get back to where they should be' said Malcolm.

'I am hopeful that when the work has been done, it will be a lot easier to drive round,' he said.

New plans include:

  • New signs before the roundabout giving early warning of which lane to use
  • Redefining the lanes to be used for the various exits
  • Adding much more marking of where the lane is for, as you go round the roundabout
  • Adding more lane lines, so it should be easy to follow round to your exit
  • Putting the information that is paint- ed on the road onto a clearer background, so it is legible in the dark

The work is due to take place in June or July.
